SONY TELEVISIONS - SERVICE MODE ENTRY METHODS

SERVICE MODE ENTRY PROCEDURE
KL-37W1U KL-50W1U KL-50W2U LE-1 chassis
To enter the service mode:
  • Turn the mains power on while holding the "PROG +" and the "PROG -" buttons on the set simultaneously.
  • "TT" will appear at the top right hand corner of the screen
  • Press "01" on the remote control to see the service menu on screen
  • Press the "arrow up" and the "arrow down" buttons on the remote control to navigate the menus
  • Press the "OK" button to select an adjustment
  • Press the "arrow up" and the "arrow down" buttons to highlight an adjustment, and press the "OK" button to allow adjustment.
  • Use the "arrow up" and the "arrow down" buttons to adjust the value
  • Press the "OK" button to store
  • Turn off the power to exit the service mode
Test mode 2 allows entry of TT numbers to perform some functions. The important numbers for this chassis are given below:
TT00 switch the TT mode off
TT08 set the set to shipping condition
TT15 Factory reset values
TT16 User defined reset values
TT16 loads the contents of the NVM when the set was last switched off
TT15 loads the factory defaults. To do this press TT15 followed by TT16.

KV28DS20U KV28DX20U KV32DS20U KV32DX20U BE-3E chassis
  1. Turn the set on and then put into standby.
  2. Press the On Screen Display button
  3. Press the "5" button
  4. Press the "VOLUME +" button
  5. Press the "TV" button
  6. Press the "MENU" button on the remote control to bring up the test screen
  7. Use the joystick on the remote control to navigate the service menu (< > ^ v keys BE-3E)
  8. Press the right joystick to enter the selected adjustment
  9. Turn off the power to store and exit the service mode
Test mode 2 allows entry of TT numbers to perform some functions. The important numbers for this chassis are given below:
TT00 switch the TT mode off
TT08 set the set to shipping condition
TT24 Set CTV to UK model (PAL I)
TT44 Set all favorite pages to 100
 To re-initialize the NV Ram follow the procedure below:
  • Set the TV to channel 59
  • Select TT49
  • Switch off at the mains supply, wait for one minute and switch the set back on
  • Select channel 59, and enter the service mode
  • Select TT24, (UK destination)
  • Select TT42, (general reset)
  • Switch off at the mains, wait for one minute and switch on again
  • Auto tune the channels and carry out a complete adjustment on the set.
KP-41S3U RE-1 chassis.
  1. Turn the set on and then put into standby
  2. Press the On Screen Display button
  3. Press the "5" button
  4. Press the "VOLUME +" button
  5. Press the "TV" button.
  6. Use buttons "1" and "4" on the remote control to navigate the service menu
  7. Use buttons "3" and "6" to adjust the selected data
  8. Press the "MUTE" button and then the "0" button to store the data
  9. Press the "5" button and then the "0" button to initialise the set.  (Note, this is an extreme measure and should be used with caution)
  10. Turn the set off to exit.
KP-41S3U RE-1 chassis
  • Turn the set on and then put into standby
  • Press the On Screen Display button
  • Press the "5" button
  • Press the "VOLUME +" button
  • Press the "TV" button
  • Use buttons "1" and "4" on the remote control to navigate the service menu
  • Use buttons "3" and "6" to adjust the selected data
  • Press the "MUTE" button and then the "0" button to store the data
  • Press the "5" button and then the "0" button to initialise the set. (Note, this is an extreme measure and should be used with caution)
  • Turn the set off to exit.
KP-41DS1U RE-2D chassis
  1. Turn the set on and then put into standby
  2. Press the On Screen Display button
  3. Press the "5" button
  4. Press the "VOLUME +" button
  5. Press the "TV" button
  6. Use the JOYSTICK Up / Down on the remote control to navigate the service menu
  7. Move the JOYSTICK to the right > to enter the selected adjustment
  8. Press OK on the JOYSTICK to EXIT
  9. Press the "MUTE" button and then the "0" button to write data
  10. Press the "On Screen Display" button to copy data
  11. Turn the set off to quit the service mode when adjustments are complete.
KV-14V4U TE-1 chassis
  • Turn the set on and then put into standby
  • Press the On Screen Display button
  • Press the "5" button
  • Press the "VOLUME +" button
  • Press the "TV" button
  • Use buttons "1" and "4" on the remote control to navigate the service menu
  • Use buttons "3" and "6" to adjust the selected data
  • Turn off the power to store and exit the service mode
The codes on screen are as follows:

  • Turn the set on and then put into standby
  • Press the On Screen Display button
  • Press the "5" button
  • Press the "VOLUME +" button
  • Press the "TV" button
  • Press the "MENU" button on the remote control to see the service menu on screen
  • Use the "blue" button and the "green" button on the remote control to navigate the service menu
  • Use the "Yellow" button and the "red" button to adjust the selected data
  • Turn the set off to exit and store
Test mode 2 allows entry of TT numbers to perform some functions. The important numbers for this chassis are given below:
TT00 switch the TT mode off
TT08 set the set to shipping condition
TT26 Set CTV to UK model (PAL I)
TT41 Re-initialize NVM
TT43 Re-initialize geometry settings
Note: For TT numbers above 41, the channel number needs to be 59.

KV-32WS4U KV32WX4U KV32WX2U AE-4 chassis
  • Turn the mains power on while holding the "PROG +" and the "PROG -" buttons on the set simultaneously.
  • "TT" will appear on the top right hand corner of the screen.
  • Press "MENU" on the remote control to get the service menu on screen
  • Navigate the menu by moving the joystick up and down.(green and blue)
  • Press the joystick down to select an adjustment.
  • Turn TV off to exit service mode
Test mode 2 allows entry of TT numbers to perform some functions. The important numbers for this chassis are given below:
TT00,10,20,30,40 pressing these numbers will switch the TT mode off
TT01 switch service menu on
TT08 set the set to shipping condition
TT21 picture rotation automatic function
TT25 Status menu display
TT49 New initialization

KV28FD1E KV28FD1K KV32FD1E KV32FD1K GE-1 chassis
  1. Turn the mains power on while holding the "PROG +" and the "PROG -" buttons on the set simultaneously.
  2. "TT" will appear on the top right hand corner of the screen.
  3. Press "MENU" on the remote control to get the service menu on screen
  4. Navigate the menu by moving the joystick up and down.(green and blue)
  5. Press the joystick down to select an adjustment.
  6. Turn TV off to exit service mode
The main adjustments are:
MCP CXA2101 -picture (color, drives, brightness etc)
Deflection control SDA9361 –geometry

KV-29X5U FE-1 chassis
  • Turn the set on and then put into standby
  • Press the On Screen Display button
  • Press the "5" button
  • Press the "VOLUME +" button
  • Press the "TV" button
  • Use buttons "^"(Green) and "v"(Blue) on the remote control to navigate the service menu
  • Press YELLOW button to enter required menu
  • Use buttons "<" and ">" to adjust the selected data
  • Press the "MENU" button to store the data and exit
